Hepatitis A does not progress to a chronic disease, but recovery can be slow. Infections often occur in children, especially those under the age of 6, and are frequently asymptomatic.
For adults, symptoms typically last around a month, and complete recovery takes about 6 months. Relapses can occur in 20% of patients, causing prolonged symptoms for up to 15 months.
Symptoms of Hepatitis A:
Those with noticeable symptoms often experience flu-like symptoms (fever, chills) and may also experience:
1. Loss of appetite.
2. Nausea.
3. Jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes).
4. Dark urine, similar to tea color.
5. Pale stools.
6. Pain in the upper right abdomen.
7. General weakness or fatigue.
